Measles outbreak claims 53 children in Sindh

Karachi (Lord Media): The measles outbreak in Sindh has intensified, resulting in the deaths of 53 children and affecting over 2,000 others. Many children are currently receiving treatment in hospitals.

According to reports, there has been a surge in measles cases in Sindh this year. Health experts have emphasized the importance of vaccinating children against the disease.

Pediatrician Dr. Khalid Shafi stated that despite over 2,000 children being affected by measles across Sindh, 53 children have succumbed to complications. Nationwide, a total of 96 child deaths have been reported.

Doctors attribute the spread of measles primarily to the unavailability of vaccines. Dr. Khalid Shafi urged parents to ensure their children receive the necessary vaccinations.

Measles is a contagious disease that predominantly affects children. Unvaccinated children are more susceptible to the virus. Early symptoms include cold, cough, and rash, and it can also weaken the immune system.
