Fire in Saudi factory kills 16 Bangladeshi workers

RIYADH (Lord Media): A fire at a sofa factory in Saudi Arabia has claimed the lives of 16 Bangladeshi workers. The incident occurred in Riyadh, as reported by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, citing the fire service department.

Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Arif Hossain Chowdhury expressed shock and sorrow over the deaths. According to the ministry, ten of the victims hailed from Bangladesh’s Naogaon district, while the remaining workers were residents of the northern and western Natore and Rajshahi districts.

Arif Hossain Chowdhury stated that the Bangladeshi embassy in Saudi Arabia is in constant contact with the accident site and local authorities. He further mentioned that relevant authorities have been instructed to expedite the repatriation of the deceased workers’ remains and ensure all necessary government assistance and compensation for their families.
