RIYADH (Lord Media): Yemen’s Houthi group has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s Jazan refinery. Saudi authorities confirmed a fire at the site, stating it has been contained with no casualties reported.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree announced on social media platform X that the Jazan refinery was targeted by drones. The Saudi Ministry of Energy confirmed the fire was extinguished but did not clarify the cause.
The Jazan refinery is a critical facility for Saudi Arabia, processing approximately 400,000 barrels of crude oil daily. The Houthis have previously targeted this location, including an attack on July 27 that temporarily shut down the refinery.
In addition, Yemeni government forces reported missile and drone attacks by Houthis in Mokha, targeting the port, civilian infrastructure, and military positions. Initial reports indicate 11 fatalities and 32 injuries in these attacks.
Tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis are escalating. Saudi Arabia has signed a defense agreement with Turkiye and Pakistan, stipulating that an armed attack on one will be considered an attack on all three.
