Meta adds football features for 2026 World Cup

New York (Lord Media): Meta has introduced several football-related features across its apps, including Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Threads, and Messenger, ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. These features include live scores, real-time chat, football-based communities, themes, and AI-powered tools.

Meta has partnered with broadcasters, national teams, players, commentators, and creators to provide users access to World Cup-related content.

Threads will feature live chats about the Football World Cup, aiming to engage fans in real-time discussions. A football community has also been added to this platform where users can interact on match days.

Instagram has launched a World Cup hub offering reels, stories, user-generated content, and broadcaster coverage. Facebook users will benefit from a special football mode, while Messenger introduces live updates.

WhatsApp has temporarily replaced the football emoji with the event’s official match ball and added football-themed video call effects and sticker packs.
