Head coach of Peshawar Zalmi and former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq said the pitch in Karachi has been slower compared to Lahore, making it difficult for batters to settle, following his team’s emphatic victory over Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11.
Speaking to the media after the match, Misbah noted that experienced all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed has strong bowling skills and should be utilised effectively by Pakistan at the international level.
He also said that Zalmi skipper Babar Azam is striving to regain his lost form and is working hard to return to his natural game. “The team is moving in the right direction and I am satisfied with the overall performance,” he added.
Commenting on conditions, Misbah said the Karachi wicket differs from Lahore, where batting was relatively easier, adding that he aims to pass on his experience to the players for improved results.
Meanwhile, Karachi Kings’ England all-rounder Moeen Ali admitted that his team failed to deliver, while Peshawar Zalmi executed their plans effectively with both bat and ball.
In an emotional moment during the post-match media interaction, Moeen’s voice choked, prompting him to pause and ask for water before resuming his remarks.
Earlier, in the 17th match of PSL 11, Peshawar Zalmi handed Karachi Kings a crushing 159-run defeat at their home ground, one of the heaviest losses in the franchise’s history.
