A franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Rawalpindi, has signed all-rounder Mubasir Khan as a partial replacement for fast bowler Naseem Shah.
According to the franchise management, Naseem sustained a side injury during a match against Karachi Kings. Team doctors are closely monitoring his recovery, with hopes that he may return in the latter stages of the tournament, subject to fitness clearance.
As a precautionary measure, Mubasir Khan has been included in the squad. He previously represented Islamabad United, where he scored 49 runs and claimed two wickets in 14 matches.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi have also bolstered their bowling attack by signing New Zealand pacer Ben Sears following injuries to Naseem Shah and Zaman Khan. Sears, who has been signed for Rs25 million, is set to make his PSL debut. He has previously featured in Major League Cricket for Washington Freedom.
At the international level, Sears has taken 31 wickets in 27 T20 matches and 10 wickets in four One Day Internationals.
Separately, Zaman Khan suffered a shoulder injury during the National T20 Cup, after which Jalat Khan was drafted into the squad as his replacement.
Led by Mohammad Rizwan, Rawalpindi will face Quetta Gladiators in their next match on April 10.
