Renowned Pakistani actress and host Mishi Khan has come out in support of fellow actor Resham, while strongly criticising the growing trend of sensationalism in television talk shows.
In a video shared on her Facebook account, Mishi Khan took aim at the content of certain TV programmes where artists are invited and subjected to provocative questioning aimed at boosting ratings.
Addressing actress Deedar, she said that if serious allegations are being made against someone, they must be backed by solid evidence. She stressed that unverified claims can harm reputations and should be avoided.
Mishi Khan also referred to remarks made by a fellow singer during the discussion, noting that Resham not only cooks but also distributes food among the underprivileged. She said such positive contributions should be appreciated rather than overshadowed by controversy.
Defending Resham, she questioned that if the actress had been involved in damaging others’ homes, as alleged, why she herself remains single. “Those who destroy others’ homes do not usually end up alone,” she remarked.
She further urged people to focus on self-accountability instead of digging into others’ pasts, adding that everyone has aspects of their lives that could be scrutinised. “Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones,” she said, describing Resham as a kind and compassionate individual.
Meanwhile, a large number of social media users have expressed support for Mishi Khan’s stance, praising her for speaking out against character assassination in live television shows.
