The upcoming Asian Cup qualifying match between Pakistan and Myanmar will be held without spectators, officials confirmed.
Chief Security Officer of the national football team, Shehzad Jadun, said that tickets purchased by fans will be fully refunded following the decision.
He explained that the move to hold the match behind closed doors has been taken in line with government policy, adding that similar measures are being implemented across other sports as well.
The two sides are scheduled to face each other on March 31, with Myanmar’s squad arriving in Pakistan in two phases. In the first phase, 14 players are expected to land tonight, while the remaining members of the 22-player squad will arrive the following day.
The visiting team will hold practice sessions in Islamabad on March 28, 29, and 30 ahead of the crucial qualifier.
