Players of the Pakistan national field hockey team, which recently qualified for the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup after eight years, will participate in various international leagues starting this week.
According to sources, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has issued no-objection certificates (NOCs) to several national players, allowing them to take part in overseas competitions.
Sources said team captain Imad Butt, along with Moeen Shakeel and Ghazanfar Ali, has already arrived in Hong Kong to compete in a league there.
Meanwhile, Sufyan Khan and Ahmad Nadeem will feature in league matches in France.
Another national player, Rana Waheed Ashraf, will honour his contract in the German league, while two to three other players are expected to travel to Australia to participate in league hockey.
The Pakistan team is scheduled to play matches in the FIH Hockey Pro League in Europe and England in June.
Sources added that players currently engaged in different leagues will return to the country before the start of the national team’s training camp for the Pro League fixtures.
