Sparco forecasts sighting of new moon in July 2026

ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has issued a forecast regarding the sighting of the new moon for the month of Safar 1448 Hijri. According to SUPARCO, the moon will be born on July 14, 2026, at 2:44 PM.

SUPARCO stated that by sunset on July 15, the moon’s age will be approximately 29 hours and one minute. In Pakistan’s coastal areas, there will be a gap of about 65 minutes between sunset and moonset, indicating favorable conditions for moon sighting.

Based on these astronomical factors, there is a high likelihood of sighting the Safar moon on the evening of July 15, 2026, with the first of Safar 1448 Hijri expected on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

However, SUPARCO clarified that the final announcement regarding the sighting of the Safar moon and the commencement of the new Islamic month will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan based on Shariah testimonies.
