Coffee reduces liver disease risk, study finds

London (Lord Media): Drinking coffee not only boosts mental alertness but also provides protection against severe liver diseases, according to a new medical study. The research indicates that coffee significantly reduces the risk of liver cancer and other liver ailments.

Published in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the study involved over 350,000 individuals who participated between 2006 and 2010. Their ages ranged from 40 to 69 years.

At the start of the study, these individuals were free from liver diseases or cancer. Details of their coffee consumption were collected, and their health was monitored over a period of 13 years.

The study found that individuals who drank five or more cups of coffee daily had a reduced risk of liver tissue hardening, liver cancer, and death from liver diseases.

Even consuming one to four cups of coffee daily was associated with a somewhat reduced risk of liver diseases. Researchers noted that compounds in coffee help mitigate elements that damage the liver.
