Alpine Club announces second Women’s Khusar Gang Expedition 2026

Islamabad (Lord Media): The Alpine Club of Pakistan has announced the second Women’s Khusar Gang Expedition for 2026. ACP President Major General Irfan Arshad Khan stated that Pakistani women have excelled in every field, and this expedition will encourage their participation in adventure sports.

During his address at the Alpine Club, he mentioned that climbers will summit the 6,040-meter-high Khusar Gang peak located in the Shigar Valley of the Karakoram range. Key figures, including Pakistan Tourism Corporation MD Aftab Rana, were present.

Following the success of the Bari La expedition, the Alpine Club has reinforced its commitment to empowering women in mountaineering. A committee of experienced women climbers, led by Naila Kiani, has selected participants through a transparent process.

The expedition aims to provide women climbers with high-altitude mountaineering experience and develop their leadership skills. Selected participants include talented women from all provinces of Pakistan.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan reiterated its commitment to promoting gender inclusion in mountaineering, adventure tourism, environmental awareness, and outdoor sports. The club will also conduct the K2 Baltoro Cleanup Campaign in September 2026.

The club maintains that Pakistan’s mountains are a valuable natural asset, and efforts to preserve them will continue. New sponsors will be gathered this year, and a commemorative stamp issued on the 50th anniversary will symbolize Pakistan’s identity.
