Islamabad (Lord Media): The High Court has requested a detailed report from the Superintendent of Adiala Jail regarding the alleged solitary confinement of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. The court inquired under whose authority and which law they are being held in solitary confinement.
The court instructed the jail superintendent to provide details about the current condition and facilities available to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the jail. Notices have been issued to the jail administration, the Inspector General of Prisons, and the NAB Chairman regarding the petitions to end the solitary confinement of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi.
It is noteworthy that the High Court had previously addressed objections from the Registrar’s Office on these petitions and instructed them to be formally numbered. During the hearing, lawyers presented arguments to the court, deeming solitary confinement as inhumane.
The NAB prosecutor informed the court that the petition regarding solitary confinement had been dismissed, to which lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar responded that their petition had not been rejected. The court directed the numbering of the petitions and will decide on their admissibility after receiving the report.
