For the past 100,000 years, this fish has been reproducing solely through mothers without the need for males. Scientists previously believed that organisms without males would soon perish, yet this fish not only survives but thrives.
According to a report, the mothers of this fish seek out other male fish to spawn but do not use their DNA, instead utilizing it to awaken the egg. The offspring are exclusively daughters, clones of their mothers.
German scientist Edward Reismayer’s research reveals that this fish possesses a system to correct genetic defects, akin to a computer fixing errors. Whenever a defect arises in the DNA, the fish’s body rectifies it by referencing a good genetic copy.
Dutch scientist Dave Spier notes that nature has devised methods to correct mistakes. Organisms without males have found their own way to avoid these errors.
