Qamar’s remarks on marriage ignite online criticism

Pakistani drama industry’s renowned writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar has once again come under criticism on social media after making controversial remarks about marriage, infidelity and the role of men and women in relationships.

During a recent interview, Khalilur Rehman Qamar shared his views on marital betrayal and claimed that women should also hold other women accountable in cases involving married men.

Responding to a question regarding men cheating after marriage, the writer said men do not betray their wives alone, but with other women, adding that women often avoid criticising those women who, according to him, “become the reason for breaking homes.”

He further stated that women should raise their voices against women who show interest in married men.

The writer also remarked that men are generally unable to resist attention or advances from women, which, he said, becomes a reason behind incidents of infidelity.

Khalilur Rehman Qamar admitted that men can be dishonest in relationships and termed them “double-faced,” while adding that many wives choose to forgive their husbands despite betrayal. However, he said women also have the option to end such relationships if they choose to do so.

His remarks quickly went viral across social media platforms, where users expressed mixed reactions.

Many criticised his comments for placing responsibility on women, while others described his statements as a reflection of societal realities.

The controversial writer frequently remains in the spotlight due to his outspoken opinions on social and gender-related issues.
