Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed concern over a reported shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington, extending well-wishes for former US President Donald Trump.
In a post on social media platform X, the prime minister said he was deeply disturbed by the news of the incident and prayed for the safety and well-being of those present at the event.
He particularly extended good wishes to Donald Trump and the First Lady, expressing relief that both were reported safe following the incident.
The prime minister stated that the news of the shooting caused serious concern, adding that he was thankful that Trump and other attendees were unharmed.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred during the annual dinner of the White House Correspondents’ Association, when sudden sounds resembling gunfire caused panic at the venue.
Security personnel quickly evacuated Trump and the First Lady to a secure location as a precautionary measure.
