The Islamabad Traffic Police has officially launched a fully paperless licensing system, marking a major step toward digital public service delivery.
The initiative was inaugurated by Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi at a ceremony attended by senior traffic officials, including Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Work.
According to a police spokesperson, the move represents a significant reform in the licensing process aimed at improving citizen convenience and reducing delays.
The IG Islamabad reviewed the newly introduced paperless counters and issued instructions for further improvements in the system.
Officials said that previously applicants were required to submit multiple documents, including medical forms, photographs and photocopies. Under the new system, all such paperwork has been eliminated.
The IG stated that citizens will no longer need to bring documents or photos and will only be required to carry their national identity card to obtain or renew a driving licence.
He added that the system now covers the entire process, from medical evaluation to licence issuance, under a fully digital framework.
Authorities further announced that the payment system for licensing fees will also be digitised in the near future as part of broader reforms.
The initiative is being seen as part of wider efforts to modernise policing services and reduce administrative burden on citizens in the federal capital.
