The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has issued a new merit criteria for the recruitment of doctors, aiming to enhance transparency and standardisation in the hiring process.
According to an official notification, academic performance will carry 60 per cent weight in the overall evaluation of candidates. The revised system allocates an additional 20 per cent marks for higher qualifications, while another 20 per cent has been reserved for interviews, bringing the total score to 100.
The notification further states that a new grading structure has been introduced to ensure fairness, with marks distribution based on first, second and third division degrees.
In addition, candidates possessing extra qualifications will receive additional marks, with 10, 15 and 20 marks allocated for one, two and three extra degrees respectively.
Officials said the revised merit criteria will come into immediate effect and is expected to improve the transparency and efficiency of the recruitment process in the province’s health sector.
