Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has come out in support of comedian Rajpal Yadav after a remark made during an award ceremony sparked backlash on social media.
According to Indian media reports, the incident occurred at the Chetak Screen Awards, where Rajpal Yadav was speaking about fluctuations in global currencies. During his remarks, the host interrupted in a humorous tone, saying that regardless of changes in the value of the dollar and rupee, he would still have to repay the same amount he had borrowed.
The comment did not sit well with fans, who expressed anger over what they perceived as a taunt directed at the comedian.
Following the incident, Salman Khan took to the social media platform X to express his support, stating that Rajpal Yadav has been working in the industry for over 30 years and is widely respected for his talent and unique abilities, which continue to earn him work.
He added that such remarks are sometimes made in the flow of conversation and should be ignored, advising the comedian to remain focused on his career.
Salman Khan also noted that fluctuations in the dollar’s value have limited impact, as earnings and responsibilities ultimately remain within the country.
It is worth mentioning that Rajpal Yadav recently faced a legal issue in a cheque bounce case, which led to his brief imprisonment in Tihar Jail before he was later released on bail by the court.
