Christians across Pakistan and around the world are celebrating Easter today, with special prayer services and religious gatherings held in churches to mark the occasion.
Congratulatory messages were issued by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, extending greetings to the Christian community on the religious festival of Easter.
In his message, the President said Easter conveys a clear message of compassion, hope, renewal, salvation, and the triumph of good over evil. He noted that Christian men and women are serving the country in schools, hospitals, government institutions, and the armed forces, adding that the community is held in high esteem in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister, in his message, expressed hope that the day would bring peace, stability, and prosperity not only for the Christian community but also for the country and the world. He said that in times of global tensions, the teachings of peace promoted by all religions have become even more significant.
He further reiterated that safeguarding the religious, economic, and educational rights of all citizens, particularly minorities, remains among the government’s top priorities.
