Pakistan women’s team to make historic FIFA Series debut

Pakistan women’s football team will depart for Ivory Coast on Monday to participate in the FIFA Series for the first time in the country’s history, marking a significant milestone for women’s football.

The decision to include Pakistan in the FIFA Series was finalised last year during a meeting between Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Syed Mohsin Gilani and FIFA President Gianni Infantino on the sidelines of the Club World Cup. The meeting focused on the promotion and long-term development of football in Pakistan, particularly the women’s game.

The FIFA Series will be held from April 9 to 16, with Pakistan scheduled to play their opening match against Turks and Caicos Islands on April 9. They will face Mauritania on April 12, followed by their final group match against hosts Ivory Coast on April 16.

PFF chief Syed Mohsin Gilani expressed confidence in the team’s potential, stating that under his leadership, concrete steps would be taken to promote football in Pakistan and ensure its sustained growth.

The squad includes goalkeepers Zeeyana Jivraj, Nisha Ashraf and Arzoo Hazara; defenders Isra Khan, Inaya Ahmed, Anmol Hira, Kayla Siddiqui, Krissa Jivraj, Aaliya Sadiq, Maria Khan and Nazalia Siddiqui; midfielders Suha Hirani, Rameen Fareed, Layla Banaras, Sana Mehdi and Zehmena Malik; and forwards Maryam Mahmood, Aqsa Mushtaq, Aiman Altaf, Nadia Khan, Maryam Zahra and Azwa Chaudhry.
