Abhishek Sharma fined for code of conduct breach in IPL

Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma has landed in trouble after breaching the code of conduct during an Indian Premier League match at Eden Gardens.

According to Indian media reports, the incident occurred during a match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, where Abhishek was penalised for showing dissent after his dismissal.

Reports said the batter expressed visible frustration after being given out, resulting in a fine of 25 per cent of his match fee along with one demerit point.

His dismissal was confirmed following an on-field review, but the player appeared unhappy with the decision. The incident took place when a delivery from Blessing Muzarabani was caught by Varun Chakravarthy, leading to Abhishek’s exit.

Witnesses noted that he lingered at the crease for a few moments, gesturing in disappointment before walking back to the pavilion.

In an official statement, the Indian Premier League said Abhishek admitted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee.

As per the rules, decisions on Level 1 breaches are final and binding.

The episode also reflects the intense competitive pressure and emotional stakes often witnessed during high-profile league matches.
