PCB tightens social media rules after Naseem Shah controversy

The Pakistan Cricket Board has issued strict directives to centrally contracted players, making it clear that controversial social media posts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

According to sources, the move comes in the wake of a controversial post by fast bowler Naseem Shah, prompting the board to reinforce compliance with its central contract policy.

Officials have instructed all centrally contracted cricketers to seek prior approval from the PCB’s media department before publishing any content on social media platforms. Failure to comply, sources said, will result in strict disciplinary action.

The board has also re-circulated its media policy to players’ managers, emphasizing that any form of controversial or inappropriate online activity will not be accepted.

As part of disciplinary measures, Naseem Shah has been fined Rs20 million for violating the policy and was also required to issue an apology over the post.

Sources further confirmed that all players have assured PCB officials of their full adherence to the media guidelines going forward.
