Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik held a meeting with H.E. Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Pakistan, to discuss bilateral relations, energy cooperation, and regional developments.
During the meeting, the Federal Minister expressed gratitude to Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) for assuring full facilitation to Pakistani-flagged vessels for any likely lifting of diesel and jet fuel from Kuwait. He acknowledged Kuwait’s continued support for Pakistan despite global and regional challenges and appreciated its contribution toward Pakistan’s energy security. He also requested the Ambassador to convey his regards to Kuwait’s Minister of Oil, H.E. Tariq Suleiman Ahmed Al-Roumi, and the CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Sheikh Nawaf Al Sabah.
Highlighting the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Kuwait, the Minister stated that the ties between the two countries are longstanding and “connected by hearts.” He noted that for the past five decades, Pakistan has been importing petroleum products, particularly diesel, from Kuwait, reflecting the durability of mutual trust and partnership.
Referring to regional peace and stability, the Federal Minister said Pakistan wishes to see all brotherly countries remain peaceful and secure. He emphasized that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is actively engaged in efforts to facilitate peaceful resolution of conflicts and is personally overseeing initiatives related to the supply of food and essential commodities as required by Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The Kuwaiti Ambassador expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace. He appreciated the efforts of the people, government, and armed forces of Pakistan, noting that the country has shown leadership in advocating peaceful solutions and rejecting the use of force during challenging times. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to supporting Pakistan and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Both sides reiterated their resolve to further enhance Pakistan-Kuwait relations, particularly in the energy sector, and agreed to maintain close engagement to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest and shared benefit.
