Pakistan’s emerging all-rounder Saim Ayub has termed his recent dip in form not as a bad patch but a challenge, saying his focus remains on learning rather than immediate results.
Speaking to a private TV in Lahore, the aggressive top-order batter, currently representing Hyderabad Kingsmen, said the team environment has exceeded his expectations.
“I am very excited to be part of a new team. I have previously played with several players in the squad, including those who have featured in the USA and domestic circuit,” he said.
Ayub added that the dressing room atmosphere is friendly, praising captain Marnus Labuschagne for his positive and approachable leadership.
“He is very cheerful, and the environment in the team is quite enjoyable,” he remarked.
Regarded as one of the most expensive players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Ayub said expectations remain high regardless of which team he represents. He noted that with an Australian captain and coaching setup, the team’s mindset revolves around playing attacking cricket.
“Our approach is to play aggressive cricket in batting, bowling and fielding. The management is trying to instill that mindset across all departments,” he explained.
Reflecting on his current form, Ayub maintained that such phases are part of a cricketer’s career.
“It is not a bad patch but a challenge. These challenges come in every career. I am trying to learn and improve,” he said, adding that he remains committed to following a process rather than worrying about results.
