Pakistan hockey team set for management reshuffle

Pakistan hockey team management is expected to be expanded with the inclusion of two additional members ahead of the upcoming World Cup and FIH Pro League fixtures in Europe.

Sources said that consultations are underway to finalize names for key positions, including team manager and coaching staff. Manzoor Hassan has emerged as a strong candidate for the senior manager’s role.

Former Olympians Hanif Khan and Shahnaz Sheikh are also under consideration for managerial responsibilities, reflecting efforts to bring experienced figures into the setup.

Meanwhile, Khawaja Junaid is expected to continue as head coach. For additional coaching roles, the names of Olympians Salman Akbar and Adnan Zakir are being considered. Both have been associated with coaching assignments in Europe for several years.

According to officials, the proposed changes aim to strengthen the team’s preparation as both the Pro League and World Cup matches will be held in Europe.

Pakistan is scheduled to play the next phase of the Pro League in June in Belgium, where the team will face Belgium and Spain in two matches each. The tour is being viewed as a crucial opportunity to test combinations and build momentum ahead of major international competitions.
