PM says Pakistan ready to face any global challenges

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has affirmed that the government of Pakistan is prepared to handle any situation arising from ongoing global tensions.

Chairing a review meeting on the impact of international developments on the national economy, the Prime Minister discussed measures to stabilize the economy and provide relief to the public. He highlighted that due to timely government decisions, sufficient petroleum products are currently available in the country.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the committees established in response to shifting global conditions have ensured continuous fuel supply. Steps to promote national savings and implement austerity measures are already in place, with additional measures under development. A third-party audit has been ordered to ensure full compliance with all ongoing austerity and efficiency measures.

He emphasized that economic stability and public relief remain the government’s top priorities, with initiatives designed to provide immediate assistance while safeguarding long-term stability.

The Prime Minister directed petroleum distribution companies to sell fuel at government-set rates and maintain transparency in the process. During the briefing, officials provided an update on the country’s petroleum reserves, import plans to meet fuel demand, and measures to protect consumers from the impact of global tensions.

To enhance monitoring, the government has introduced a feature in the Pak App allowing users to report fuel shortages or overpricing anywhere in the country, enabling authorities to take immediate action.

Participants in the meeting praised the Prime Minister’s recent decision not to increase petroleum prices further.

The review was attended by Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister; Mohammad Aurangzeb, Finance Minister; Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Economic Affairs; Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister for Petroleum; Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting; Shiza Fatima Khawaja, Minister for IT; Bilal Azhar Kiani, Minister of State for Finance; and senior officials from relevant government departments.
