Bangladesh spin coach backs Salman Ali Agha run-out

Bangladesh spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed has defended the controversial run-out of Pakistani batter Salman Ali Agha, describing the dismissal as correct and saying that neither side was at fault.

Speaking to the media, Mushtaq Ahmed said the incident happened so quickly that even the players struggled to process what occurred. He explained that bowler Mehidy Hasan Miraz assumed Salman Ali Agha was trying to stop the ball outside the crease, while Agha bent down to assist in returning the ball, creating the situation that led to the run-out.

Mushtaq Ahmed said he could not definitively determine who was “right” or “wrong” in the split-second play. He added that attempting a run-out after picking up the ball is a natural reaction for a bowler when the batter is outside the crease, and in this case, both Agha and Miraz acted within the rules.

He emphasized that Salman Ali Agha was far from the crease and may have assumed the ball was dead, while Miraz’s actions were correct, concluding that no mistakes were made on either side during the incident.
