Lahore High Court adopts four-day working week

The Lahore High Court has decided to adopt a four-day working week, with courts operating from Monday to Thursday under a new schedule announced through an official notification.

According to the notification issued by the registrar of the Lahore High Court, the new working arrangement will apply not only to the high court but also to all subordinate courts across Punjab.

Under the revised schedule, courts will function from Monday to Thursday, while special arrangements have been made for urgent matters. The urgent cell responsible for filing new cases at the Lahore High Court will remain operational from Monday to Thursday with 50 percent staff.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the urgent cell will continue to function but with only 10 percent of the staff to handle essential and urgent filings.

The notification further stated that security and sanitation staff will continue performing their duties throughout the week according to their existing schedules to ensure uninterrupted services.

It was also directed that no additional protocol arrangements would be allowed under the new system.

The move is expected to streamline court operations while maintaining essential judicial services.
