In a landmark achievement, the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has recorded a 75 per cent growth rate in tax collection for the month of February the highest in its history.
According to a PRA spokesperson, the authority collected over Rs41 billion in tax revenue during February of the current fiscal year, compared to Rs23.6 billion collected in the same month last year, reflecting a significant surge in provincial receipts.
The performance was reviewed in a meeting chaired by PRA Chairman Muazzam Iqbal Sipra, where officers from across the province participated via video link. The chairman commended the field formations and relevant departments for their improved performance and adherence to revenue targets.
The spokesperson attributed the robust growth to the implementation of the Punjab chief minister’s reform agenda, highlighting that modernized tax administration measures and enhanced transparency in the collection system had contributed to the increase.
Officials maintained that higher provincial revenues would help ensure fiscal stability and facilitate the timely completion of development and welfare projects across the province.
