LAHORE (Lord Media): Punjab’s Higher Education Department has announced a significant decision regarding the recruitment of College Teaching Interns (CTIs), calling for fresh applications from temporary teachers. All candidates will be required to undergo a new selection process, including interviews and submission of necessary documents. Candidates selected in the previous academic year will also be obliged to participate in this new recruitment drive.
Contrary to earlier announcements, the department has decided not to extend the contracts of current CTIs without interviews. Last year, the Education Minister had indicated the possibility of contract extensions for CTIs.
According to sources, the decision for new recruitments was made following a report on the performance of CTIs, with some showing unsatisfactory results. As a result, selections will be made anew based on merit.
The Higher Education Department has completed preparations to invite new applications this year. Additionally, a proposal to increase the monthly stipend for CTIs is under consideration, recommending an increase from 50,000 rupees to 65,000 rupees. Officials stated that a formal notification will be issued following the approval of the summary related to new recruitments and stipend increases.
