ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): Pakistani students have brought honor to the nation by winning three bronze medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from July 4 to 12. Over 400 students from more than 90 countries participated in the global competition.
Representing Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali, Hamdan Alvi, and Daniyal Shehzad Hamid secured bronze medals, while Huza Mahmud from Lahore and Abdullah Ijaz from Rawalpindi received special honorary certificates for their outstanding performance.
The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission stated that the students were selected through the National Science Talent Contest, organized in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
The selected students underwent a special training program at the PIEAS campus, where they were trained under the supervision of national and international experts. The Pakistani team was led by Professor Dr. Muhammad Irfan and Dr. Muhammad Waseem.
Experts have hailed this achievement as a significant step towards promoting scientific education and nurturing young talent. Pakistan had also won three bronze medals at the International Physics Olympiad 2024, held in Isfahan.
