ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): The National Emergency Operations Centre has declared the upcoming six months as decisive for the complete eradication of polio in Pakistan and globally. A high-level delegation from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative’s Polio Oversight Board visited Pakistan and met with senior officials of the anti-polio program at the National Emergency Operations Centre.
During the meeting, the delegation was briefed in detail about the ongoing efforts, strategies, and recent progress in eradicating polio in the country. The National Emergency Operations Centre stated that the delegation expressed full confidence in Pakistan’s anti-polio program and reaffirmed its commitment to continued support.
The delegation praised the effective leadership and strong commitment of the Government of Pakistan in the polio eradication efforts, emphasizing that the next six months are crucial for the complete eradication of polio in Pakistan and worldwide.
The delegation also stressed the need to strengthen routine immunization systems alongside the polio eradication campaign to enhance public health systems and protect children from preventable diseases.
During the visit, members of the Polio Oversight Board met with female frontline health workers, listened to their inspiring experiences, and lauded their invaluable services in the fight against polio across the country. The delegation highlighted the pivotal role of frontline health workers in the struggle to eradicate polio, praising their extraordinary efforts.
