Aliema Khan announces new phase of protest movement

ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): Aliema Khan, sister of Imran Khan, announced the commencement of a street movement as a new phase of protest outside Adiala Jail. Speaking during a court appearance, she stated that her aim is not just to meet her brother but to restore his rights. She claimed her brother symbolizes restrictions on human rights, democracy, and justice.

Aliema Khan criticized the repeated issuance of arrest warrants initially, but now, she claimed, the trial is being avoided. She mentioned being summoned to court in the morning, only to have the date set for August 11 before her arrival, which she finds incomprehensible. She alleged that dates are assigned based on orders from above.

She remarked that previously, immediate hearings were held for arrest warrants, freezing bank accounts, and blocking ID cards. Aliema demanded either a verdict and imprisonment if guilty or acquittal if not, insisting she will not let the case linger indefinitely.

Aliema accused authorities of misleading the public regarding the founder’s release. She stated that without independent judges, decisions on merit are impossible. According to her, while they call for the trial to proceed, the opposing party is evading it, and obstructing justice is a criminal act.

She labeled the Punjab government as a “fake government of Form 47,” claiming that public fears have diminished. She asserted that protests outside Adiala Jail have dispelled public fears, and she, along with her sisters, will continue the street movement across neighborhoods.
