Andy Burnham regrets Labour’s early Gaza stance

LONDON (Lord Media): Senior UK Labour Party leader Andy Burnham expressed regret over his party’s initial stance on Israeli military actions in Gaza, stating that the Labour Party failed to meet public expectations.

In an interview with a British newspaper, Burnham admitted that the Labour Party did not adopt an appropriate position at the start of the Israeli military operations in Gaza. He apologized for not understanding the correct stance and emphasized the need for the party to play a better role in the future.

Burnham further mentioned that evidence of war crimes during Israeli operations in Gaza is continually increasing, although he refrained from directly labeling these actions as genocide.

According to Burnham, the decision on whether the actions in Gaza fall under genocide according to international law should be made by international courts, rather than politicians.

It is noteworthy that during the initial phase of the Gaza conflict, Labour Party leader Keir Starmer stated that Israel had the right to cut off water, food, and electricity supplies to Gaza under its right to self-defense, a position that drew criticism.

Political analysts suggest that Burnham’s recent statement indicates a shift in opinion within UK politics, with diverse views emerging within the Labour Party as well.
