Upper Chitral (Lord Media): Intense glacial melting has caused severe flooding in streams across Upper Chitral, leading to widespread damage in various areas. In Yarkhun’s Bang Gol region, sudden flooding has drastically increased water flow, damaging homes, gardens, and other properties, submerging several areas.
The severe flooding has swept away the only connecting bridge over Bang Nala, cutting off Yarkhun Valley Road to all traffic. Approximately 50,000 residents of Yarkhun have lost their sole land connection.
According to authorities, the Mastuj and Broghil roads are also completely closed to all traffic, causing significant difficulties for the local population. Residents have appealed to relevant authorities, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, and welfare organizations to initiate immediate relief operations, restore alternative routes, and assist the affected individuals.
