10m children in Pakistan trapped in child labor

Islamabad (Lord Media): Nearly 10 million children in Pakistan are engaged in labor instead of receiving an education, according to a joint report by UNICEF and the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. The report reveals that over 8 million children are victims of child labor, with 6 million working in hazardous conditions.

The report identifies poverty as the primary cause of this alarming situation, with the greatest impact on poorly educated parents and impoverished households. Statistics indicate a significant number of boys are involved in dangerous jobs and other labor sectors.

Most children are working on family farms, in workshops, and at domestic levels. The report highlights that child labor adversely affects children’s physical and mental health. These children, who do not attend school, suffer from illness, fatigue, and psychological stress due to long working hours.
