PM ends austerity for government employees

Islamabad (Lord Media): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the cessation of previous austerity measures for government employees. The Cabinet Division has issued an official notification rescinding fuel-saving initiatives at the government level. According to the new directive, the Friday holiday for government employees has been abolished, while officers are now allowed full petrol access and 60% of government vehicles can be reused.

However, restrictions on the operating hours of commercial centers and business activities will remain in place. As per the notification, shops, markets, and shopping malls must close by 9 PM, while wedding halls are required to conclude events by 10 PM. Restaurants and cafes will shut by 11 PM, although home delivery and takeaway services are exempt from this restriction.

Additionally, pharmacies, hospitals, laboratories, bakeries, milk shops, and tandoors will be free from time constraints. Petrol pumps, CNG stations, electric vehicle charging points, gyms, sports clubs, IT companies, and call centers will continue to operate as usual.
