Zurich (Lord Media): A new study reveals that goats possess a remarkable ability to understand human cues. Conducted at the University of Zurich, the research found that goats can follow human voices to locate food. Experiments on 29 goats showed that they successfully found food in a bucket by following human voices 60% of the time. When researchers remained silent, this success rate dropped to 47%.
The study also indicates that goats can follow human voices without any training, a skill not observed in chimpanzees. According to researchers, this ability in goats may result from neurological changes, enabling them to better align with humans.
Previous research has also shown that goats understand human hand signals and prefer positive human facial expressions over negative ones. The findings of this study have been published in the journal Royal Society Open Science.
