Islamabad (Lord Media): President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of protecting natural resources for Pakistan’s sustainable development in his message on World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. He highlighted that safeguarding pastures is crucial for food security, environmental balance, and the livelihood of millions.
President Zardari noted that climate change and drought pose serious threats to pastures and the natural environment. Pakistan is committed to sustainable land management, ecological restoration, and the conservation of natural resources.
He further stated that the government is undertaking various practical measures to counter the effects of drought and enhance resilience. Increasing the productivity of forests, pastures, and water resources is among the national priorities.
The President remarked that protecting natural resources guarantees a secure future for coming generations, while restoring pastures will promote job opportunities, food security, and environmental well-being.
