Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has revealed that performing the popular item song “Billi” was one of the best decisions of her career, describing it as a bold but rewarding step into the film industry.
Speaking during a recent interview, the actress shared details about her journey from television dramas to films and recalled the challenges she faced while shooting the song.
Mehwish Hayat said performing in “Billi” was both exciting and demanding, adding that she was physically exhausted, injured and nervous at the time of filming.
“I was tired, had bruises on my body and was quite nervous, but when I reached the set and saw the entire environment, I was amazed,” she said.
The actress termed the project a major turning point in her career, saying it marked her transition from television dramas to films.
“It was a big and bold move which could have gone wrong, but I always believed my face was suited for films,” she added.
Mehwish Hayat further revealed that veteran actor Javed Sheikh had once told her during a drama project that she possessed all the qualities required to become a film star.
She said filmmakers later noticed her performances and offered her film roles.
According to the actress, the song was filmed in a way that made it feel like a natural part of the movie rather than a forced dance sequence.
“It looked like a gangster party scene and blended well with the storyline,” she said.
Meanwhile, actor Fahad Mustafa also shared an amusing incident from the shoot, saying the focus during filming remained entirely on Mehwish Hayat’s energetic performance.
He jokingly remarked that the cast was merely reacting to her dance moves, while a property owner at the shooting location became so engrossed in watching her performance that he accidentally fell from a height.
It is pertinent to mention that Mehwish Hayat and Fahad Mustafa are set to appear together in the upcoming film “Zombied,” scheduled for release on Eidul Azha.
