Pakistan, Turkmenistan discuss boost in trade and connectivity

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan held a detailed meeting with Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan Atadjan Movlamov to review bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, and regional connectivity.

According to official details, the meeting focused on strengthening economic relations between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, with special emphasis on improving trade routes, logistics networks, and institutional linkages between the two countries.

Both sides exchanged views on the growing importance of regional trade corridors connecting Pakistan with Central Asian states, highlighting the need for smoother movement of goods and enhanced commercial integration.

Jam Kamal Khan underlined Pakistan’s strategic geographic location, describing it as a natural gateway between Central Asia and global markets through its seaports. He noted that shifting global supply chain trends have further increased the significance of Pakistan’s connectivity potential.

The minister stressed that stronger economic integration, improved transport systems, and greater business-to-business engagement could unlock new trade opportunities for both countries. He also proposed organizing business forums, trade exhibitions, and chamber-level interactions to encourage direct private-sector cooperation.

Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov appreciated Pakistan’s approach towards regional trade facilitation and reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s interest in expanding economic and transport collaboration.

The two sides also discussed cooperation in the energy sector, including long-term regional energy connectivity projects and infrastructure development aimed at promoting economic stability and integration.

Both Pakistan and Turkmenistan agreed on the importance of continued diplomatic engagement, institutional coordination, and high-level exchanges to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Officials expressed confidence that enhanced cooperation in trade, energy, logistics, and private-sector partnerships would open new avenues of economic growth between the two friendly countries.
