Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has ruled out any possibility of entering politics, saying he is content with his career in the entertainment industry.
Diljit was recently urged by a group of civil society members to become a “new face” of Punjab politics. The appeal reportedly came from retired military officers and professionals from different sectors, led by former bureaucrat S S Boparai.
However, the singer firmly rejected the suggestion.
In response, Diljit said, “Never. My job is to entertain people. I am very happy in my field. Thank you.”
According to reports in Indian media, the proposal had sparked discussions among supporters who believed he could bring a fresh perspective to politics in Punjab.
The group advocating his entry into politics included retired officials and social activists, who argued that his popularity could help address regional issues.
Following his statement, many fans praised his decision, saying that moving into politics might risk diluting his artistic identity.
Diljit Dosanjh, known for his global music and film success, has consistently focused on his entertainment career across Punjabi cinema and international stages.
