Pakistan’s rising squash player Noor Zaman made an impressive start to his campaign in the World Squash Championship after defeating Egypt’s Adam Hawal in a thrilling first-round encounter in Cairo.
According to reports, Noor Zaman overcame the Egyptian player by 3-2 in a hard-fought match played in front of the home crowd.
The Pakistani player won with a scoreline of 11-9, 5-11, 11-7, 9-11 and 11-8 to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Asim Khan was knocked out in the opening round after suffering defeat against fifth seed Joel Makin.
Another Pakistani player, Ashab Irfan, is scheduled to play his first match later today in the ongoing championship.
Pakistan’s squash fraternity has expressed hope that Noor Zaman will continue his winning momentum in the mega event.
