Temperature may soar to 49°C in upper Sindh districts

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast hot and humid weather in Karachi for the next three days and issued a heat alert for several parts of Sindh.

According to the Early Warning Centre, the maximum temperature in Karachi is expected to remain between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius during the period.

Officials said humidity levels during afternoon hours could range between 55 and 65 percent, while sea breezes along with westerly winds are also expected to continue.

The Met Office further predicted hot to very hot and dry weather across most districts of Sindh.

Heatwave conditions are likely to persist in central and upper Sindh until May 11, affecting districts including Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana and Sukkur.

Meteorological experts warned that temperatures in these areas could rise between 47 and 49 degrees Celsius.

Authorities have advised citizens, especially children, women and elderly people, to take precautionary measures, avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during daytime and increase water intake to prevent heat-related illnesses.
