President Asif Ali Zardari, currently on an official visit to China’s Hainan province, held a telephone conversation with Iraq’s prime minister-designate Ali Falih Khadim Al-Zaidi, extending congratulations on his appointment.
During the call, President Zardari conveyed best wishes for the formation of a stable government in Iraq, noting that the appointment reflects confidence in his leadership at a critical time for the country.
He underscored that Pakistan and Iraq share long-standing relations rooted in mutual respect and common values, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties.
The discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and renewable energy. Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing academic linkages and people-to-people exchanges to build a sustainable long-term partnership.
The Iraqi prime minister-designate thanked the Pakistani president for his goodwill message and extended an invitation to visit Iraq at a mutually convenient time.
