Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has confirmed that a sequel to the blockbuster film 3 Idiots is officially in development, delighting fans of the iconic movie.
Speaking during a recent interview, the actor said that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi are currently working on the project.
Aamir Khan revealed that the story is still in the development phase and will focus on the lives of the original characters Rancho, Farhan and Raju nearly 10 years after the events of the first film.
The actor said he has already heard the script, adding that further improvements are still being made.
Expressing excitement over reprising his beloved role as Rancho, Aamir Khan said he is eagerly waiting to return to the screen as one of his most popular characters.
He added that while the sequel will introduce a fresh storyline, it will retain the humour, emotions and spirit that made the original film a massive success among audiences.
Released in 2009, 3 Idiots became one of Bollywood’s highest-grossing and most celebrated films, earning widespread acclaim for its storytelling, performances and commentary on the education system.
