Renowned Pakistani fashion designer Deepak Perwani has revealed that he has been robbed three times in Karachi over the past three months, amid growing concerns over the city’s law and order situation.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, the designer said armed robbers snatched his car, motorcycle and cash in separate incidents.
Deepak Perwani said the worsening security situation was not limited to him alone, adding that members of his staff had also become victims of crime.
According to the designer, the house of one of his employees was burglarised twice during the same month, while another employee’s son was allegedly subjected to violence for refusing to pay extortion money.
He stated that crime in Karachi had increased to alarming levels, while inflation and economic hardships were further adding to public difficulties.
Following his statement, a large number of social media users expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi and called on authorities to take effective action against rising street crime.
Some users described the city’s situation as increasingly dangerous, while others urged the government and law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety.
Deepak Perwani is considered among Pakistan’s leading fashion designers and has received several awards during his career. He is also known for creating what was recognised as the world’s largest kurta.
