Veteran Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has issued a formal apology following controversy surrounding the song “Sarke Chunari Teri Sarke,” after appearing before the National Commission for Women.
During the hearing, the actor clarified his position regarding objections raised over allegedly inappropriate and objectionable content in the song. He stated that he had no prior detailed knowledge of the lyrics, their translation, or the final presentation, adding that his role was limited to performing as a professional actor under contractual obligations.
Expressing respect for women, social values, and cultural sensitivities, Dutt offered a sincere apology before the commission. He maintained that he does not support any content that may be deemed offensive to women or any segment of society.
In a gesture reflecting social responsibility, the actor also announced that he would bear the educational expenses of 50 girls from tribal communities in Nagpur for one year.
The commission was informed that an implementation report in this regard would be submitted within three months.
