Global pop icon Taylor Swift has initiated legal measures to safeguard her voice and identity against the growing misuse of artificial intelligence (AI), according to media reports.
The 36-year-old singer has reportedly taken action as AI-generated fake content continues to expand rapidly, raising concerns across the entertainment industry.
According to reports, Swift’s company filed three trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on April 24. The filings include sound marks for phrases such as “Hey,” “Hey, it’s Taylor Swift,” and “It’s Taylor Swift.”
A third application relates to a visual representation depicting the singer standing on stage with a pink guitar, wearing a colorful outfit and silver shoes. Further details regarding the filings have not been disclosed.
With this move, Swift joins a growing list of Hollywood figures seeking legal protection against AI-driven misuse of their likeness and voice. Among them is Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, who has also reportedly filed to secure rights over his voice.
Experts say the rapid advancement of AI technologies has introduced new risks for the creative and entertainment sectors, prompting high-profile personalities to pursue legal avenues to protect their intellectual and personal rights.
